As with any medication use, there are a number of side effects of ciprofloxacin that you should be aware of when you begin your treatment. It is important to consult your physician if you notice any changes, no matter how minor they may seem, and if you are unsure of what to do seek emergency medical attention right away. Ciprofloxacin side effects can range from mild to severe, and there have been a number of people that have reported allergic reactions as well. Mild ciprofloxacin side effects
While there is a wide range of side effects of Cipro that have been reported, if you encounter any of the following mild symptoms, take note and discuss them with your physician. If the worsen, or you are nervous you can seek emergency medical attention just to be safe. The less serious side effects of ciprofloxacin use include: nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, slight blurred vision, increased anxiety, and/or trouble sleeping. Most of these symptoms are not life threatening but it is important to keep an eye on them with your physician to make sure that they don’t become more serious.
Severe Cipro side effects and allergic reactions
It is important to seek immediate emergency medical attention if you notice any of the following severe side effects of ciprofloxacin. Stop taking the medication immediately, as you seek medical attention for any of the following: severe dizziness, loss of consciousness, irregular heartbeats, sudden stabbing pain, unusual popping sound, irregular bruising, swelling, muscle stiffness, decreased joint flexibility, bloody diarrhea, mental confusion, hallucinations, seizure, severe headaches, pale or yellowing of the skin, darker colored urine, numbness, unusual tingling, any skin rash (no matter how mild), and/or severe skin reaction (blistering and peeling). Any or all of these severe side effects of Cipro can be very dangerous and it is important to seek emergeny medical attention right away.
An allergic reaction to Cipro can be sudden and life threatening and it is important to seek medical attention immediately if you notice any of the following symptoms: hives, difficult breathing, and/or swelling of your tongue or throat.
Although most of the more severe side effects of ciprofloxacin are rare, it is important to seek medical attention if you notice any of them. Talk with your doctor regularly to ensure that you are using the correct antibiotic for the treatment and to see if there are any alternatives if your body isn't reacting well to any one in particular. Keeping this dialogue open and watching out for the symptoms and signs of the Cipro side effects will ensure that you gain all of the positives of the treatment while minimizing the negatives.
